I have been following the Rahul Gandhi debate and while there is a lot of talk on twitter mostly not positive.
I would like to remind people he is the same Rahul Gandhi that was once largely perceived as a youth icon and wannabe actress wanted to get married to
So what has changed ? what happened in the last couple of years that his virtual image (Twitter, Facebook etc.) has taken a beating it is not that he has been involved in riots, betting, transfers amassing large wealth
The guy has been putting some hard times in changing the way Indian national congress works
Why from being a Hero he is being trolled by the uninformed easy to manipulate social media junta.
Because he refuses to get into dirty politics, cheap publicity, name calling.
There is this cry on the internet that NDTV, CNN-IBN, Hindu are congress stooges
(http://www.realpolitik.in/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=155:paid-news-how-corruption-in-the-indian-media-is-undermining-democracy&catid=70:other-stories)
wasnt he man enough to go on Times Now and battle it out by one of the most fierce Journalist who at times can even make Meenakshi Lekhi loose patience.
If it was an exam I would say Rahul Gandhi passed out with passing colours he did not stooge to that level which Narendra Modi has created for himself but like Michael O'Leary (CEO of Ryan air) marketed the achievements of congress to viewers
Lets start from say early days when Rahul was still a hero of the common masses (i.e. including the people outside/inside internet I would still believe that he is for the outside one) what changed there were
those speeches by Subramanian Swamy, those cartoons on the Internet those videos which did not have a human voice but a computer generated text to speech converter which would malign the Gandhi family and even not rule out Jawahar lal Nehru.
Yes sir, you have been brainwashed believe it or not you have changed your perspective watching those videos and while there is the great cry over this 500 crore budget for Rahul Gandhi's public Image makeover Modi has had one for almost a decade now
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APCO_Worldwide) and by the work you can imagine that he has spend more than that.
Now lets come down to his opponent Mr Narendra Modi someone who has had a dreadful past, walks out of TV debates when questioned on riots has no clear economic policy has not implemented lokayukta, does not say a word on corruption does not attend these interviews and if he does you cant ask tough questions on Gujrat riots yes but he speaks about them to the English Media and will always berate someone 20 years younger to him.
And let us not forget the BJP believes Homosexuality is a bimaari and congress on the other hand is filing petitions in the court.
If you like Narendra Modi over rahul Gandhi believe you really need to think. what changed your opinion on Rahul Gandhi because everyone at some point has liked the Idea of Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister of India.
It is a shame that today by the PR machinery we have changed our views on the Gandhi-Nehru family who have a history of standing up for India.
And even though the Internet generation can be fooled the real hard working Indian junta can't and even though people who believe in Congress don't command a significant majority, on the ground they are still a force in the real India (the people who go out to vote).
